How to plan a fishing trip to Finland?

During the last twenty years I've seen many foreign people fishing in Finland. Some have done well, some less so. To improve your success rate please consider the following:

How much time and money you are willing to spend fishing (Finland is a large country, travel takes time and money)
Is your holiday timing already fixed or can you change it to hit the best fishing (very crucial for catch success)
Do you have other people with you who may not be so keen on fishing (spouses have sometimes difficulties appreciating the finer points of standing in the cold rain with biting insects for company)

OK, fine. You have all the time in the world, unlimited funds and a happy marriage. Let's move on:

Get a good, large map of Finland (scale 1:200 000 should show most interesting waters)
While you are at it, buy a travel guide. Lonely Planet has good (and funky) ones. From Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0864426496/102-9620538-7612135
